Getting To The Highland Games By Plane

A growing number of European and international destinations now have direct flight links to Scottish airports. Although you may still have to take a direct flight to London or Manchester and then take a connecting flight to Scotland, depending on where you are departing from.

Bear in mind that none of Scotland’s airports are served by rail links, with the exception of Glasgow Prestwick. This means that you will have to use one of the dedicated bus services or take a taxi into the city centres.

Here is a quick guide to the five Scottish airports.

Aberdeen Airport
8 miles out of the city. Direct flights from Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bergen, Copenhagen, Dublin, Esbjerg, Faro, Groningen, Kristiansand, Malaga, Murcia, Oslo, Palma, Paphos, Paris, Stavanger and Tenerife.

Edinburgh Airport
10 miles west of the city. 8 miles west of the city. Glasgow Prestwick International Airport
30 miles south west of Glasgow - it is an additional train journey of up to an hour in to Glasgow city centre.
Domestic flights to London Stansted and Bournemouth. International flights to Brussels, Bergamo, Budapest, Cork, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Girona, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Kaunas, Krakow, Milan, Murcia, Oslo (Torp), Paris, Pisa, Reus, Riga, Rome, Shannon, Stockholm and Wroclaw.

Inverness Airport
Situated 7 miles north east of the city.
